Socialist modernism: remembering the architecture of the eastern bloc

Hi everybody today I'm going to talk about a new that read a few minutes ago. This new talks about that brutalist architecture of eastern Europe are decrepit, but now a project aims to document and preserve it. The monumental structures of central and eastern Europe are disappearing memories of the socialist era. The office of art and urban research (Bacu) believes that socialist modernism is outside of the current books of history. This same office, in 2014, started a new initiative to protect and document these buildings.
Many of the buildings at risk have been abandoned and left in ruins, while others sit in wait for demolition in fast-developing Eastern European cities.
Most of these buildings contribute to the history of each country. They are your identity. They are part of a sad time when wars were part of the world and of people.
“We aim to revitalize this heritage not only for symbolic reasons but because we believe in these elements that managed to defy some of the ideological requirements, giving the urban space a certain flavour so characteristic of those times,” says Dumitru Rusu who is part of Bacu. “Boulevards, public buildings, living units and monuments, they all are a clear reflection of the social and cultural context of the socialist period.”

I chose this new because it talks about something real. Is something which happens in the actuality.
I liked to read this article because it was related to my career and, in the future, I could do something to contribute and expand it in the whole world.
